“If we don’t change, we don’t grow. If we don’t grow, we aren’t really living” – Gail Sheehy
Changes are so good, they bring growth and the ability to expand. I can not express how grateful I am for all the changes and and new classes that have been added to my schedule.
My classes are always designed to be a warm and compassionate space for every “body” – even if you’ve never done yoga before. Grab your yoga mat and some water and meet me for some gentle flowing yoga. I am so excited to practice with you!
6:30pm – Gentle Vinyasa Flow for the residents of San Sonoma Apartment Homes, Tempe, AZ
Hello, did you miss me? I’ve been hanging around here in Gilbert Arizona getting grounded and now I’M BACK!
it’s time to get back to doing what I love, I’m super excited to announce that I will be teaching Yoga classes again very soon. All of the the details are getting worked out and I will have a schedule for your within a few days.
I am now a Certified “Yoga for All” Teacher!!! I don’t know if you can tell but I’m more than just a little bit excited about this. As a Yoga teacher I want to assure that any’body” that comes in for a yoga class feels comfortable regardless of the body they’re in.
It was extremely important for to find a training from people who were well respected within the Yoga community and have specific knowledge in the practice as it applies to people who didn’t fit the Yoga “mold”. Although I had to wait for the training to become available in the Fall, You can’t get much better than Dianne Bondy and Amber Karnes!!! Their training is only offered twice a year and it was completely worth the wait!
Dianne Bondy is an author, motivator, educator, yoga teacher, and creator of Yogasteya.com. Yogasteya is an online yoga site dedicated to celebrating students of all shapes, sizes and ethnicities. Our motto is “No Yogi Left Behind.”
Dianne has had over 1000 hours yoga training in different modalities such as yoga therapeutics, restorative, and Anusara Yoga. She is an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher at 500 hour level and is the Director of Eastside Yoga School. You can read her column The Abundant Yogini at DoYouYoga.com.
Amber Karnes is a ruckus maker, RYT-200 yoga asana teacher, and a lifelong student of her body. In Amber’s classes and workshops, students of all shapes and sizes will find tips, tricks, and modifications to make yoga asana work for their unique body, instead of being squished into poses for the sake of form over function. She emphasizes safe alignment and mindful transitions, and guides each student to honor the body they bring to the mat today, while being empowered to learn about the body’s intelligence and power. She received her certification from Anna Pittman in 2011 and is grateful to her many wonderful teachers.
Amber is a big fan of “yoga in non-yoga places” and often teaches free, accessible classes in her community. She serves on the Yoga and Body Image Coalition Leadership Team and Women’s Power Space Advisory Council. Amber seeks to further the message of inclusivity, consent, agency, body positivity, and accessibility for all on and off the mat. She blogs at bodypositiveyoga.com.
I feel so much more confident in my ability to teach knowing I have so many options to offer my students. I want my students to feel comfortable no matter where they are in their practice. In addition, I am now part of a wonderful community that truly cares about making Yoga accessible to everyone.
This training was a labor of love for me. I truly care about offering Yoga for All Shapes, SIzes and Abilities and am over the top about this certification!
My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.
