Peter’s Canyon Regional Park has offered me and my family fun hikes, heart to heart talks with friends while climbing trying to breathe as we tackle Red Hill and much needed alone time hearing the dirt and rocks under my shoes. I have been so thankful to have this gem so close to home.
Seeing the Canyon Fire 2 burn through our little oasis left me and many others feeling a loss. Our little gem needs our help and we give our park the care and time to recover after the Canyon Fire 2 burned so much of it.
Volunteers are needed to help park rangers plant native habitat around the edges of the parking lot. The first scheduled volunteer event following the fire will be Sunday, November 19, 2017 from 7:30 am – 10:30 am. Anyone 12 and over is eligible to lend a hand.
Registration is limited to 50 participants. This would be a great way of giving back and perfect for older boy scout and girl scout troops to help their community.
Yoga, is amazing! I know, you may think I am a bit biased but I have benefited greatly from my Yoga practice, I feel calmer, stronger, healthier and more energetic. In addition to the physical benefits, the connection of mind, body and soul are indescribable.
If you’re not looking to go that deep, that’s ok. If you’re simply looking for a form of exercise, that’s easy on the body and helps you get healthier – Yoga is it!
There are so many health benefits and I simply have not found another form of exercise that can compare to the overall benefits of a regular Yoga practice.
Studies have shown that a regular Yoga practice helps to lower your blood sugar levels, lowers LDL levels (but cholesterol), boosts HDL levels (good cholesterol), helps with blood circulation, lessens pain and stress and increases energy levels.
You don’t have to stand on your head or fold up like a pretzel to do Yoga and it’s never to late to begin your Yoga practice. There is a yoga class to meet everyones fitness level and needs. Come out and try one of my classes or if you’re not in the area, look for a studio near you.
Beginning Tuesday, September 5th, bring the kids to a fun welcoming environment learning the skills of mediation and yoga at Once Upon A Storybook in Tustin.
I believe every “body” NEEDS yoga and if we can introduce Yoga to our kids at an early age, they will will better off because of it! Yoga helps kids learn coping tools to deal with the emotional, social and the physical challenges our kids face today.
The class will begin with a yoga or mindfulness-related story and move onto Yoga. Your kids will not only learn the physical postures (poses) breathing techniques, balance and meditation but more importantly self acceptance, mind and body connection as well as social and community awareness.
Kids will need their own yoga mats, if you don’t have one, we have arranged for you to purchase one at a discounted rate at Branch & Stone in Old Town Tustin. Kids Yoga mats are $15.00 plus tax.
