Roger’s Gardens Halloween Boutique

GrimmTales Halloween Boutique??? Yep, it’s time! For me the sure sign that Fall is on it’s way is visiting Rodger’s Gardens Halloween Boutique. This year the theme is “Grimm Tales”  and it opens today, Friday, September 2, 2016.

My family and I have made a tradition of visiting this spectacular showcase. Each year, we look forward to the new theme and new chilling features each room holds.

I love gathering inspiration for our home with the works of artists like: Joyce Stahl,  Vergie Lightfoot and Nicol Sayer. These decorations go way beyond Pumpkins and gourds. These are pieces of art and are simply amazing.

The Grimm Tales theme takes you through forested rooms that display a completely new spin on classics like Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Sleeping Beauty and Hansel & Gretel.

While your visiting Roger’s Gardens be sure to stop by the brand new restaurant Farmhouse Cafe  Who wouldn’t want to eat here? The garden is beautiful and the restaurant supports an open feeling with all the charm that exists within the garden.

“Something Wicked This Way Comes” at Roger’s Gardens

2015 Halloween Boutique.

Surrounded by unseen forces, a mysterious traveling carnival has pulled into town. Tent doors flap amidst the dry, swirling autumn wind.  The night crackles with an odd vibration, as if a veil of peculiarity has settled over these hallowed grounds.  A maelstrom of sights, sounds, smells, and people…this is Halloween at Roger’s Gardens…this is Carnival.

Visiting the Halloween Boutique at Roger’s Gardens is now one of our Fall family traditions. There is something different in each nook and cranny. Every room features something different than the last.

Need a place for inspiration to get your “spook” on? This is it! In addition to pumpkins and gourds, look forward to seeing work from artists like: Eric Cortina, Scott Smith, Joyce Stahl, William Bezek, Tina Haller, Bethany Lowe, Vergie Lightfoot and Nicol Sayer.

Visit’s with Santa

wpid-2014-12-21_00.11.39.jpgIf your like me and put off your yearly visit with Santa, you might find this post very helpful. Yesterday, I made up for my procrastination with two visits with the jolly man. That’s right, not one but two and today is your last chance to get your Santa Pics at these locations.

Our day started out with an attempt to see the Nutcracker for Kids at the Newport Beach Library, which didn’t work out because they had at least 400 people show up an event with a capacity of 200. So, we regrouped and we moved on to Plan B. We took a short drive down the street to the Roger’s Gardens in Corona Del Mar.

I’m sure you are all aware of how much I love this nursery/decorating center. They have a gorgeous spot for pictures with Santa, so I didn’t mind waiting for Santa to show up at noon.

In addition to being surround by beautiful flowers and plants. The professional photographer let’s you know that is ok to use your own camera for pictures. He snaps his own photos and hands you a card with his website for an option to purchase his professional picture, absolutely no pressure.

Santa was very nice and gave the girls a Candy Cane and a bell (just like Polar Express, I love that movie). You can extend your afternoon by having lunch from one of food trucks or a hot cocoa/coffee from the mobile coffee truck then browse at all the gorgeous Christmas decorations.  Santa is there today from noon to 6pm.

Since, we weren’t far from Costa Mesa, we drove over to Costa Mesa for some Holiday Cheer at SOCO/the OC Mix. They had an outstanding looking Santa dressed in a vintage Santa suit. SOCO/The OC Mix actually provided us with a free 4 x 6 picture with an option to purchase more through a follow up email. He’ll be there today from 11:00 am until 3pm.

If your hungry – this is the place to be but that’s another post altogether. There were some crafts available for the kids and a kids coloring contest at SusieCakes that gets you a coupon for 3 free cupcakes for a future visit (their Red Velvet is AWESOME). Our last stop at OC Mix was to Granola Babies, an Eco Firendly Children’s Boutique, for an instore scavenger hunt. Your reward is 3 tickets redemable at N’iceCream for 3 FREE small ice creams (some absolutely delicitable organic gelato and sorbet, made fresh every morning).

So there you have it, two last chance FREE Santa photo options with plenty of perks for us parents. No time to waste – go out there today and get those FREE Santa Pics and don’t forget some free treats too.

Roger’s Gardens is Hauntingly Beautiful

If you haven’t decorated for Halloween yet there’s still time to get some Hauntingly Beautiful inspiration at Roger’s Gardens in Corona Del Mar.

wpid-2014-10-20_10.33.42.jpgLet me start by saying if you love gardens, you MUST visit Roger’s gardens. This place is unlike any garden center I’ve ever visited, it’s absolutely beautiful. The grounds are pristine, even the patio furniture area looks as if they serve sunday brunch there (it’s actually a shame they don’t). When you walk into the garden, there’s a train village that has been created around a tree. My girls loved it. Everything is lovely.

Now back to the original subject, the Halloween Boutique holds surprises in each turn and corner. It made me want to come home and spook up everything in my house. They say that a picture is worth a thousand words, so here it goes.

There are so many great and inspiring ideas, some make you think “I can do that”‘ but then when you really start looking around you notice that are some exquisite one of kind items. This boutique features work of some amazing artists like:  Eric Cortina, Scott Smith, Joyce Stahl, William Bezek, Tina Haller, Bethany Lowe, Vergie Lightfoot and Nicol Sayer. I took some pictures but my phone simply doesn’t capture how beautiful these pieces are. These are some of the pictures from Roger’s Gardens blog.

A beautiful hand stitched witch by  Joyce Stahl.

This ghoulish creature is by Scott Smith.

I loved these terrorfied candlesticks by William Bezek

These antique looking paper mache dolls were my favorite by Nicole Sayer.

My little one enjoyed this guy, she said it was “Creepy” by Bethany Lowe

A porcelain jeweled skull by Eric Cortina

I sooo want one of these handpainted one of kind Pumpkins in my home by Vergie Lightfoot

Every room features something so completely different than the last. The setting is hauntingly beautiful, don’t miss it!
