Peter’s Canyon Regional Park has offered me and my family fun hikes, heart to heart talks with friends while climbing trying to breathe as we tackle Red Hill and much needed alone time hearing the dirt and rocks under my shoes. I have been so thankful to have this gem so close to home.
Seeing the Canyon Fire 2 burn through our little oasis left me and many others feeling a loss. Our little gem needs our help and we give our park the care and time to recover after the Canyon Fire 2 burned so much of it.
Volunteers are needed to help park rangers plant native habitat around the edges of the parking lot. The first scheduled volunteer event following the fire will be Sunday, November 19, 2017 from 7:30 am – 10:30 am. Anyone 12 and over is eligible to lend a hand.
Registration is limited to 50 participants. This would be a great way of giving back and perfect for older boy scout and girl scout troops to help their community.
I love Halloween, it’s fun, it’s playful, kids wait all year to dress up and collect candy door to door or attend their favorite Harvest Festival. For some kids in the hospital, this day must take on a different method of getting in on the fun. This is where Ethan’s “Book for Treats” comes in!
Ethan, creator of Ethan and Choco’s Book Club, knows first hand what it’s like to be in the hospital on Halloween. This brave young man has a goal and you can help me reach it while providing a treat to some kids within our community. Ethan is looking to collect 300 Halloween-themed books for kids who are inpatient at CHOC Children’s Hospital during Halloween!
There are several ways to donate to this cause. You can visit our local children’s book store Once Upon a Storybook and purchase a book, then just leave it in the “Ethan & Choco’s Book Club Basket” (they have an awesome Halloween display as well) and/or you can take a look at Ethan’s Halloween Wish Book list that is available on Amazon http://a.co/1o8eo3B – any books purchased through Amazon will be sent directly to ECBC.
This is a great way to give back and bring a smile to a kids face. Happy Halloween!
On July 8th , the City of Tustin will be hosting a Community Volunteer Fair at the Community Center at the Market Place. This event offers a fantastic way for you to discover the many ways for you to give back and make a difference within your community.
Similar to a job fair, different organizations will be in attendance to educate the community about their respective organization with the hopes of recruiting new members and/or volunteers. Jerri Rosen, founder of Working Wardrobe, will be the keynote speaker for the event.
If your busy on Saturday, California Pizza Kitchen at the Tustin Market Place will be hosting a fundraiser with the proceeds to be donated to the Tustin Police Foundation. Just bring the CPK flyer, present it to your server and CPK will donate 20% of your check to the Tustin Police Foundation on the day of the Community Volunteer Fair.

Did you know there are NO Hospitals in California with libraries for Children? Children can play video games, get toys to play with, visits from therapy dogs but there are no books! This is where you can help make a difference!
Please help us as we give back to the children in our community. Buy a book for yourself or donate a book. OR – even better, Buy One, Gift One!!!
Once Upon a Storybook has generously offered to donate a portion of each purchase to help fulfill Ethan’s vision of building a lending library and gifting library. Just be sure to mention“TROOP #3152” at checkout!!!
Any donated books must be new. Please come by to support my troop, ECBC, and this wonderful local bookstore!!
