The city of Tustin is hosting their annual Halloween Howl at Columbus Tustin Activity Center. This FREE Family Friendly event is the perfect warm up for Trick or Treating.

Come in costume for a costume contest, candy, games, prizes and a bounce house.

Acorn Day

AcornDayFlier2015-page-001Come celebrate Acorn Day under the oaks at O’Neill Regional Park. It’s a free, family-friendly day of excitement and learning with activities for every age:

  • free crafts for kids
  • live butterfly enclosure
  • games, face painting
  • live music
  • nature exhibits
  • oak tree planting
  • ukulele lessons for kids.

Guided nature hikes to the Water Tower will be offered at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m.

Presentations throughout the day include Journeys to the Past, Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary, Inside the Outdoors, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department Reserve K-9 Program, The Hummingbird Story and a live butterfly release at 2:30 p.m. by Western Monarch Guardians.

Participants also include OC Trails, The Helena Modjeska Foundation, Tree of Life Nursery, Orange County Fire Watch, OC Parks, Earthroots Field School, The Saddleback Area Historical Society, Southern California Bluebird Club, Saddleback Canyon Riders, SHARE Mountain Bike Club, Southwestern Field Herping Associates and The Institute for Wildlife Studies and more.

Christmas Train

 Irvine Regional Park  will be ready to open their first annual Christmas Tree Ranch on Friday, November 28, 2014

Santa and his Train

Tis the season, once again, for Irvine Park Railroad’s annual Christmas Train. Come with family and friends and take this enchanting night ride through historic Irvine Regional Park to meet Santa Claus.

The train will depart from the brightly-lit train station and drop passengers off at the North Pole. Children can share their wish list with Santa and have their photo taken with him too. You may take pictures with your personal camera or you may purchase a photo taken by Irvine Park Railroad.

 After visiting with Santa, hop back aboard the train and enjoy the colorful Christmas lights and decorations, as well as the magical “Tunnel of Lights”, on the ride back to Santa’s Village.

Christmas Train tickets may only be purchase online. A one-time, online ticket fee will apply to each order. Tickets may not be purchased in person. When you purchase tickets to ride the train at a specific time, you may pick your tickets up at the train station ticket window. Then, get in line and board the train at any time during the hour for which tickets are purchased. It is recommend to arrive at the top of the hour to board the train

Harvest Fest on Halloween Night

Harvest Christian Fellowship  is hosting  a “Harvest Fest” at both the Riverside and Orange County campus on Halloween night. The festivities begins at 5:00 P.M.

Riverside’s Harvest Fest will feature free raffles, obstacles courses, large slides, lots of good food, and a production for kids called “The Wonderful Wisdom from God.”

Another Family Friendly option for Halloween in South County is the Harvest Festival at  Calvary Chapel South Orange County in San Juan Capistrano on Friday, October 31st, 5 to 9 p.m. at Buchheim Field.

This FREE event features rides, games, face painting, candy,  food trucks, live entertainment and more, This family event is open to the public.

BOO! San Diego’s only Halloween Parade

The Boo Parade is San Diego’s only Halloween parade! On October 25, 2014 at 10:00 a.m., The Boulevard BOO! Parade is returning to the College Area. This free, family event is bigger and spookier than ever! More floats, more zombies, more music and more surprises. More of what makes the Boulevard BOO! Parade San Diego’s only Halloween Parade.

The fun doesn’t stop after the parade. There are many places to discover in the College Area. Stop over to the After BOO Community Carnival & Float Award’s Ceremony at the College Ave Baptist Church from 11 am to 5 pm, (4747 College Ave.). Enjoy live music, carnival rides, games, cold drinks and food trucks with friends.

The College Area Business District, a non-profit corporation that manages the College Area Business Improvement District, focuses their efforts on helping small business owners in the commercial corridors in the College Area of San Diego, including El Cajon Blvd., College Ave., and Montezuma Rd. The Boulevard BOO! Parade brings thousands to the commercial district to enjoy the local restaurants and specialty shops. Sit patio side and enjoy something tasty and cool to drink while being entertained by the BOO!
