The U.S.National Park Service will offer FREE admission to all of our national parks on Tuesday, August 25, 2015, in celebration of the National Service Park Service 99th Birthday!

Here’s a list of the National parks in California:

Lava Beds National Monument
Muir Woods National Monument

Come to the Nixon Library for FREE admission to celeberate the 103rd Birthday of Girl Scouts and Pat Nixon.

Girl Scouts lead the fun event celebrating the 103rd birthdays of Girl Scouts and Pat Nixon. Admission to the Richard Nixon Presidential Library & Museum is free for all.

Enjoy fun activities, birthday cake and enjoy the latest displays at the Richard Nixon Library.

 Mount Rushmore comes to life at the Nixon Library!

Meet Presidents Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Teddy Roosevelt all day and the first 100 guests will enjoy a free slice of cherry pie.

Schedule of Events:

  • 10:00 am – Begin your FREE day at the Nixon Library by “meeting” our Presidents.
  • 1:00 pm – enjoy an educational talk given by our presidents.
  • 6:00 pm – lecture and book signing with Pulitzer Prize-winner Edward Larson as he takes a new look at George Washington’s career to reveal the importance of what he did after the American Revolution.

Admission to the Nixon Library is free and open to the public all day.

Commemorate the 102nd birthday of America’s 37th President with a full day of special events at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum on Friday, January 9, 2015.

Admission to the Nixon Library is free and open to the public all day.

Schedule of events:

11 AM: Presidential Wreath Laying at the Memorial Site of Richard Nixon

-Laying of a memorial wreath sent from President Barack Obama
-Remarks by Commander of Navy Region Southwest, Rear Admiral Patrick J. Lorge
-Ceremonial musical performances by Navy Band Southwest
-Formal Presentation of the Colors

1 PM: Nixon Legacy Lecture with Stephen Hess

-Historian and Nixon biographer Stephen Hess will discuss his new book, The Professor and the President: Daniel Patrick Moynihan in the Nixon White House. Hess brings the unique perspective of working for both President Nixon and his top urban affairs advisor Daniel Patrick Moynihan to tell how the two men put partisan politics aside to bring reform to the federal government.

Stephen Hess will sign copies of his book following the lecture. If you are unable to attend, but want autographed copies of The Professor and the President, click here to order and we’ll ship the day after his appearance.

Target hosts free and reduced-price admission to museums throughout the Country.  As part of their Target First Sunday events, Orange County has FREE events at both The Children’s Museum at La Habra & Bowers Museum this Sunday, January 4, 2015.

Celebrate the year of the Goat. We’ll be making painted Chinese lanterns and experiencing traditional musical performances.

A total of 500 people are admitted on Target FREE Sundays.Hand stamps for both sessions are distributed at 1pm and are on a first come first served basis. There is no museum admittance once all 500 slots are filled. (This does not apply to CMLH Members.) Session times are 1-2:45pm and 3:15-5pm.

Free Day at The Autry

It’s Free Day at the Autry Museum on New Year’s Day!

There’s always something fun for families at the Autry! In the Imagination Gallery, experience movie magic as you saddle up and ride through the West, just like movie actors do. Pose for photos on a pretend horse, explore the museum through themed scavenger hunts, and check out our hands-on sound effects station. On weekend afternoons, try your hand at panning for gold.

Each monthly Autry Explorers Family Program features dynamic guest artists and presenters, plus hands-on museum fun for all ages. Stop by the Visitor Services Desk to pick up your Autry Explorers Passport to journey through the West! Collect two or more activity stamps to win a prize.

It’s national parks birthday, visit a national park on August 25, 2014 for FREE!  The National Park Service turns 98 years old. They are waiving entrance fees and inviting everyone to join in the festivities taking place coast-to-coast.

The big day, August 25, is a free-entrance day, so head to any of the country’s401 national parks and take in the scenery, learn a little history, or simply enjoy the great outdoors.

Parks across the country are offering loads of fun activities. Take the kids on a caving adventure, bike ride, kayak tour, hike, or island safari. Catch a campfire talk, make a painting, or witness a living history demonstration. Search the events calendar to find out what’s happening at a park near you! You can help the kids earn a free Junior Ranger badge at almost any park—just ask at the visitor center.
