Keeping your Pets Safe and Calm on the 4th of July

4th of July Celebrations are just around the corner. If you have pets you know how traumatic this day can be on your pets. Along with planning family get togethers, meals and firework shows, you might want to consider things to do to make your pet comfortable.

Exercise: One way to have them calm for the evening is talk them on a walk early in the day. If you live in here Arizona, please don’t forget to have them wear doggie booties to protect their paws.

Music: It’s no secret that music can soothe a soul that nothing else. The same is true for your pets. Relax My Pet has an entire YouTube channel dedicated to helping your pets. Here’s 8 hours worth of calming music made especially for your pets on 4th of July.

Comfort: Pets normally run and hide during fireworks, so try leaving their favorite blanket or toy in a closet with the door open might help them find shelter with things of comfort. Make sure to put their food and water close by.

Space: your pets need space during this time. If your home, stay close enough for them to see you but allow them the space they need. Keep your hands away from them at this time. If they come to you, embrace it but otherwise, let them be.

Safety: your pets are paranoid during this time, their instinct is to run away from the danger. Make sure your pets are indoors with the air conditioner on with doors and windows closed.

Calming aids: some pets may require a bit more to keep them calm. Visit your local veterinarian, they may be able to suggest something for your pet or visit bachflower.com. They have several natural and safe options available. Their products are also listed on Amazon for quick delivery!

Reiki: If you’re a Reiki practitioner, send your Reiki to yourself, your pets and your home. Remember we are all energetic beings, so if you’re nervous about leaving your pet on the 4th of July, they’ll feel it. I know that days of celebration can get bust but be sure set the day with a peaceful tone. Begin your day by clearing your space. Smudge, light a calming candle, play high frequency music from the time you get up to the time you get ready leave for your celebration. Then reset the music to the above mentioned YouTube playlist for your pet before leaving.

On the 4th of July, include your pet in your self-healing Reiki practice. Ground yourself, your pet and your home. Send Reiki to the future by picturing your pet safe, calm and comforted.

In addition, take a visit to your local pet shop. They may have a few more items in stock to help keep your fur babies safe and calm during the celebrations. Wishing you and your pets a safe and positive day.

Be Safe this Weekend!

Please help keep families together and safe this weekend by designating a driver or call Uber for a ride. Wishing you and yours a very happy and safe 4th of July weekend.

Annette – ProjectRefinedLife

As the 4th of July  weekend approaches, the media will be entirely too busy reporting on drunk driving fatalities. This is one of the deadliest weekends throughout the year for alcohol-related crashes. During the four-day holiday in 2014, 164 people were killed in drunk driving crashes – a 50% increase over an average day.

MADD refuses to accept this as normal. And, this week, we are proud to announce an enhanced partnership we believe will save lives – begining this weekend!

MADD introduced the phrase designated driver to the American lexicon 30 years ago in 1986. This week, I am pleased to say that Uber has evolved the definition of “designated driver.” So, that in addition to your non-drinking driver or public transportation, Uber is standing by as well as MADD’s official designated driving app.

For almost a decade, MADD has put technology at the forefront of our Campaign to Eliminate Drunk Driving®.  Two years ago, this July 4th, we announced a partnership with Uber to keep drunk drivers off the road. As a team, we have spent the last two years raising awareness about the dangers of drunk driving by coordinating events with local and national leaders, participating in public service campaigns, and encouraging both riders and drivers to leave the keys at home and keep their communities safe.

Uber, like MADD,  cares about our cause of getting drunk drivers off the road. They care about rider and driver safety, and they are dedicated to research that helps reduce drunk driving.

This holiday weekend, like all weekends, we want Americas roads to be safe and rid them of drunk drivers. Please join our mission to end drunk driving by donating today. Uber will DOUBLE your donation.

Together, we will make a difference. Have a safe July 4th weekend. Thank you and God Bless America!
