I will not “Blackout” or hide for even an hour in order to bring awareness to anything! You can never invoke change if you are not taking part, speaking up and being present.
Be in the moment, be the voice of change…even if they don’t believe you or agree with you. Be confident, be courageous, be strong. I will never be silent in order to make someone less uncomfortable with their wrong doings.
The reason I initially started this blog was to be heard. To say what wasn’t being said. To let it be seen the work that needed to be done in order to rebuild myself and go forward after suffering a loss. I talked about things people didn’t want to hear about or read about. I consistently remind people of being accountable for their actions and how their actions affect others. As a result, people may have unfollowed me or unfriended me…I am okay with that. That would never stop me from doing what is important and real.
Seriously – hasn’t the silence has gone on long enough? Whatever it is that you need to talk about, no one will hear you if don’t talk about it. I understand this “blackout” movement to bring awareness to what the world would look like if you weren’t in it but let me tell you…the world continues to spin – with or without you. If it’s spinning and I am in it, I sure as hell am not going to be quiet – not even for an hour.
I am not invisible! I am here, I am present and will never allow anyone to dim the light that shines from within. Allow your inner fire been seen and felt. Be your own superhero and to never allow anyone to silence you!

I love Halloween, it’s fun, it’s playful, kids wait all year to dress up and collect candy door to door or attend their favorite Harvest Festival. For some kids in the hospital, this day must take on a different method of getting in on the fun. This is where Ethan’s “Book for Treats” comes in!
Ethan, creator of Ethan and Choco’s Book Club, knows first hand what it’s like to be in the hospital on Halloween. This brave young man has a goal and you can help me reach it while providing a treat to some kids within our community. Ethan is looking to collect 300 Halloween-themed books for kids who are inpatient at CHOC Children’s Hospital during Halloween!
There are several ways to donate to this cause. You can visit our local children’s book store Once Upon a Storybook and purchase a book, then just leave it in the “Ethan & Choco’s Book Club Basket” (they have an awesome Halloween display as well) and/or you can take a look at Ethan’s Halloween Wish Book list that is available on Amazon http://a.co/1o8eo3B – any books purchased through Amazon will be sent directly to ECBC.
This is a great way to give back and bring a smile to a kids face. Happy Halloween!

I know it’s late tonight but are you looking for something for the kids to do tomorrow? Why not send them to VBS for a couple of days. Calvary Church in Santa Ana offers FREE Vacation Bible School for kids through Friday, July 29, 2016 and they would love it if you brought your kids. This years theme is “The Cave”. (I love the theme this year).
They are always happy to accept kids, even if it’s just for a day! These are some of the things I LOVE about this VBS:
They never turn a child away
They help local children without transportation get to and from VBS
They are very organized and loving with the children
They teach children about giving back
Every morning starts out by meeting in the main church, there’s a group of people who get the kids ready for their high energy day, with by games,, skits, singing, and praying together then the kids head to their classes where they have a bible based curriculum and then circulate in the campus and do crafts, play games, have a snack and then meet back up in the main church and end their day by another entertaining skit, singing and praying together. It feels like a rock concert in there and the kids love it!
Children are encouraged to give back by contributing through the “Penny Project”. The kids bring in their “pennies” to fund a project to benefit the work of a missionary family. The kids will learn all about this family and what their pennies will help build or provide.
VBS not only helps our children discover and grow closer to Christ, they also make friends and have memories and values to last a lifetime.
If you want to bring the kids tomorrow just show up at Calvary Church located at 1010 N Tustin Ave, Santa Ana, CA 92705, between 4th St. & Irvine Blvd.
The program begins at 9:00 am and is over at 12:30 pm and runs through Friday. You can show up around 8:30 -8:45 within a few minutes they’ll be signed up, assigned to a crew and ready to go! You can feel self assured in leaving your kids as everyone that is serving on the volunteer team has been full background screened.
They are looking forward to see your kids there tomorrow!

The Halloween Candy Buy Back program is a great way for kids to give back! Kids can trade in their Halloween candy to local dentists for cash & prizes while supporting our troops.
How does the program work?
Participating dentists “buy” back kids’ Halloween candy at a scheduled event
“Buy” with cash, coupons, toothbrushes, creative exchanges – They can partner with local businesses to give away coupons for food, services, goods, etc. They can give away the Hygiene Kits, they can set up an Opportunity Prize–each kid gets a ticket per pound of candy for an opportunity drawing to win special prizes, etc.
Operation Gratitude sends the candy to the U.S. Military
To find a dental practice in your area, use the zip code “look-up” feature to see if there is a dental office participating close by. SUGGESTION: Call the practice before driving over with your Halloween candy as many have concluded their buyback event and are no longer accepting candy.
You’ll enjoy peace of mind knowing you’re making kids, parents, and Service Members smile!
You’ll set a great example for the next generation to give back!
You’ll also enjoy some great publicity!
100,000 Toothbrush Challenge
Help us send a toothbrush in every troop’s care package! For every pound of candy you send to the troops, we hope you will also send a toothbrush! Let’s see how quickly we can collect 100,000 toothbrushes!
In 2014, 401,052 lbs of candy were donated, that equals over 12 million individual pieces of candy!! To find a location near you click here.
