Sunset Cinema

OC Parks Sunset Movies 2017

Ok, I just noticed that the County of Orange and OC Parks Sunset Cinema film series is already under way! I seriously need to do some catching up around here!!!

The Sunset Cinema consists of 12 free movies taking place at Carbon Canyon Regional Park, Craig Regional Park, Salt Creek Beach, Mason Regional Park, Laguna Niguel Regional Park, and Yorba Regional Park.

Movies begin  around Sunset, so get your blanket and picnic dinner ready and enjoy a FREE movie night at the park.

The next Sunset Cinema will take place this Sunday, June 10th at Carbon Canyon Regional Park as we look out for U.F.O.’s and catch the sci-fi film Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

Head over to Craig Regional Park in Fullerton on Saturday, June 17 as the series continues with The LEGO Batman Movie.

One of my personal favorites, The Princess Bride at Craig Regional Park on Saturday, June 24.

On Saturday, July 1 at Salt Creek Beach, don’t miss the animated comedy Sing.

The following week, you’ll be back  at Salt Creek Beach for Steven Spielberg’s Jaws on Saturday, July 8.

Bring the family to Mason Regional Park on Friday, July 14th  bring the kids for a screening of Moana  and Friday, July 21 for an all time favorite, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

Come to Laguna Niguel Regional Park to see Finding Dory on Friday, July 28. Friday and then come back on August 4  for E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.

The last 2 movies of the OC Parks Sunset Cinema series will take place at Yorba Regional Park in Anaheim with A Bug’s Life on Friday, August 11. They’ll finish the series on August 18 with the 1993 American coming-of-age film, The Sandlot.

I’m planning on keeping our summer plans a bit more relaxed this year so that we’ll able to enjoy some family time and take in these FREE movie events. If you don’t have time to bring your picnic dinner, you can grab food from one of the food trucks that will be at every event. FREE parking starts as early as 6:00 pm and show times begin around 8:00 pm. For more information visit ocparks.com.

VBS

VBS

I know it’s late tonight but are you looking for something for the kids to do tomorrow? Why not send them to VBS for a couple of days. Calvary Church in Santa Ana offers FREE Vacation Bible School for kids through Friday, July 29, 2016 and they would love it if you brought your kids. This years theme is “The Cave”.  (I love the theme this year).

They are always happy to accept kids, even if it’s just for a day! These are some of the things I LOVE about this VBS:

  • It’s FREE

  • They never turn a child away

  • They help local children without transportation get to and from VBS

  • They are very organized and loving with the children

  • They teach children about giving back

vbs4

Every morning starts out by meeting in the main church, there’s a group of people who get the kids ready for their high energy day, with by games,, skits, singing, and praying together then the kids head to their classes where they have a bible based curriculum and then circulate in the campus and do crafts, play games, have a snack and then meet back up in the main church and end their day by another entertaining skit, singing and praying together. It feels like a rock concert in there and the kids love it!

vbs5

Children are encouraged to give back by contributing through the “Penny Project”.  The kids bring in their “pennies” to fund a project to benefit the work of a missionary family. The kids will learn all about this family and what their pennies will help build or provide.

vbs2

VBS not only helps our children discover and grow closer to Christ, they also make friends and have memories and values to last a lifetime.

VBS1

If you want to bring the kids tomorrow just show up at Calvary Church located at 1010 N Tustin Ave, Santa Ana, CA 92705, between 4th St. & Irvine Blvd.

The program begins at 9:00 am and is over at 12:30 pm and runs through Friday. You can show up around 8:30 -8:45 within a few minutes they’ll be signed up, assigned to a crew and ready to go! You can feel self assured in leaving your kids as everyone that is serving on the volunteer team has been full background screened.

They are looking forward to see your kids there tomorrow!
