5 Years – Thank you!!!

Today is 5 years of the official first post of Project Refined Life! I want to thank you for allowing me to share my project of how I have been refining, growing and healing my life with you!

Over the years, I have changed and so has this this site. With the help of many teachers and the beautiful souls that have surrounded me, supported me and wiped tears from my face at times; I have shifted from a place of just trying to manage my hurt into a place of peace.

This blog started as a way for me to bringing awareness to drunk driving while offering information, product reviews and events for families. With my growth, this blog has now become a landing spot to contact me for more information about yoga and methods for healing.

I been very busy these last couple of years and it’s now time for me to share what I have learned. Over the next couple of weeks, you will see changes to the site as well as new offerings.

Although my journey into learning and refining the body, mind and soul is far from over, I am anxious to share what I have learned with you.

From the very essence of my being, Thank you, thank you, thank you for the support during my growth and healing. May these first 5 years be just the start of many years and healing to come.

Namaste,

Annette

You’ve Changed

When someone makes a comment to that effect, I am thankful! Let me clarify that I make an ongoing effort to assure that I do change! WE are supposed to change, to evolve, to always better ourselves.

I don’t want to be the same person I was last year, last month even last week. I must continue to expand my mind and soul. Even if it displeases others.

I am fully into my “project” of refining who I am, my purpose and my place. When I started this blog/website (just a few days away from 5 years ago) I never thought it would lead to this. I simply wanted to let others see my journey into a space of healing. Over the years my blog has shifted and changed into what it is today.

This journey has brought me to a place where I am able to help others heal and refine themselves as well. This is my path! I have been busy with classes, workshops, reading, researching and putting into practice all of these things. I can not sit and wait for life to happen, day after day.

I am on an endless path to seek and receive knowledge and wisdom – without it, I would be stuck. My energy would be stagnant and that would be a waste! Do not ever allow anyone and definitely do not yourself to put a limit on yourself. Don’t allow yourself to hit a plateau without continuing to the next level. Never stop learning, exploring and healing yourself. The change within you will displease some but it will greatly impact most! So my friends, take it as a complaint when others say to “You’ve changed” you may even want to say thank you.

Welcome Spring!

Spring Equinox and A Super Full Moon in the same day – what an awesome way to welcome in Spring!

Equinox signifies a balance or the “equal” part of night (or almost equal) to the day. The combination of this day along with the Full Moon is perfect timing to balance, realign, release and renew!!!

Take this opportunity to review any growth within yourself from the beginning of this year. Breathe and forgive yourself for any areas in your life you could have handled differently and start anew.

Weather permitting, my plans for the day include walking on dirt path to enjoy the spring blooms and taking advantage of the supreme timing with planting some seeds today. Along with the physical seeds we will also be planting seeds of intention for our continued growth through this year.

If a walk on a dirt path of planting seeds isn’t something that sparks your interest – just take a moment during the next couple of days to acknowledge and let go of energy that no longer serves you. This is a time to grow, heal and feel. Go big and be bold with your intentions. Happy Equinox and enjoy the Full Moon energies.

Breathe and Enjoy

Day 13 & 14 of “Mindful March”
from https://www.actionforhappiness.org/

I’m catching up today from yesterday’s #MindfulMarch and combining it with today’s – because some days are like that.

Day 13 – Stop Breathe and just notice. Repeat regularly throughout the day.

Day 14 – Enjoy doing chores or task more mindfully today.

As I write this post, I am on my second batch of laundry, cleaned the bathrooms and cleaned up the kitchen after breakfast. I have to say, I am thankful for all of it.

The laundry, the dirty potty’s and showers, the dishes, cleaning the stove top. I am so blessed. Blessed to have food to cook and yes all of my humans to take care of.

In between the cleaning and cooking, I was still able to take some time light my sage, breathe deeply and enjoy it. Find beauty in the moment, not matter what it consists of.

Feel it!

Day 12 of “Mindful March”
from https://www.actionforhappiness.org/

Today was such a beautiful day. It was filled with moments of clouds blanketing the skies, soft rain and moments of down pours. After all of this weather today, Just before sunset, I was able to stand still for a moment and indulge in the coolness of the sky right before sunset.

Whenever you can, just take a moment in your day, just feel it. Feel the cool of a breeze or the warmth of the sun on your face.

Before you Reply

Day 11 of “Mindful March”
from https://www.actionforhappiness.org/

When someone is speaking, take a full breath before you reply.

Have you ever had a conversation with someone where you can clearly see that that have already formed their reply before you’re done with your sentence?

Be mindful. Let them speak, take a full breath prior to forming your reply. It makes a huge difference in the overall conversation and the vibration that conversation carries.

Listen to a Piece of Music

Day 9 of “Mindful March”

from https://www.actionforhappiness.org/

Without doing anything else, sit back, close your eyes and “Listen to a piece of music“.

I’ve attached a song by James Hood entitled Tapestry. This song has so many rhythmic textures and layers, sit back and enjoy these next 4 minutes.

That’s it, today’s assignment is just to listen.

“James Hood is renowned as a vital and versatile musical pioneer. His lengthy and varied musical resume includes playing drums in The Pretenders, an ongoing two-decades-plus run as mastermind of the visionary ambient/electronica act Moodswings and an expansive array of production and soundtrack projects.” – https://www.jameshood.com/
