My Husband, myself and our two daughters

My name is Annette. I am a Wife, a Mother of 4, a proud Grandma, a supporter of MADD, a Girl Scout Troop Leader, a doTERRA Wellness Advocate and a Yoga Teacher in Training. I love spending time with my family, practing yoga, cooking, hiking, camping, exploring and keeping myself and my family healthy. I am on an ongoing project of refining who I am. My life has been filled with love, joy and hurt. Bringing me to a point where I realized I needed to learn how to breathe again, grow from the hurt, change and expand my thinking.

In July of  2005, my life was changed forever. A drunk driver took the life of my 17 year old son and his best friend. My life, my purpose and outlook on life changed forever.

Since then, my husband and I had two beautiful girls but even with such lovely blessings, It took me several years to come out of my shell. For years I kept looking at a picture taken just two weeks before this horrible event and kept saying “I want to be her again”. It took me years to come to the point where I realized that I would never be “her” again. Although the pain of losing my son would never be over, I had to learn to live with the the pain and make become a better person because of it and help others. I needed to learn how to continue in my new life.

The purpose of my blog is to share things that refine my life. my purpose and my place..I am the Project!

  • I feel that refining my life should consist of spreading the word about social and community issues, so I will share my point of view and ways to help make the world a better place.
  • I feel that giving back is one of my purposes in life, so I will share ways to give back.
  • I know that my place is with my family, so I will share family friendly events with an emphasis on STEAM & nature, deals, freebies, recipes, product reviews.
  • I am a work in progress and will share some of the things I am doing to get healthy (physically and mentally).

I am always looking to learn, grow and share; so I will share what I find to be helpful, informative or fun. I hope you enjoy my blog and appreciate you coming along with me on my project,

Annette – Project Refined Life

  1. May the pain that engulfed you be comforted by your spiritual practice…I died as a young child having a very similar experience as the movie Heaven is Real..I am grateful for experiencing that peace..I pray for my aunt who lost her 21 year old child to an 18 year old drunk driver who crossed the highway, hitting my cousin and her boyfriend who were coming home from college….I send prays of peace to you and yes to your new found voice! Heart to Heart Robyn

      • Thank you are amazing..always remember that! heart to heart Robyn My Aunt has found peace and forgiveness…as we all see Jana as our own private Angel.

Thank you for your comment about the Blog

        • Annette, I just came across your blog and wanted to meet you. You are an inspiring, strong, Christian woman, that has inspired the progression of my ministry “Blessings in Disguise”. Our focus is on the education and recovery of those affected (either directly or not) by alcoholism.
          A sincere thank you!

          • Thank you for your kind comments and for visiting my blog. It has been a long and hard journey but with God’s grace I continue.

My hope is to provide families options for meaningful and mindful family-friendly events. If we can fill a child’s mind and life with moments that help develop strong, socially aware children with a heart for giving back, maybe – just maybe we change what lies in their (and our) future, maybe they help people where and when they can and maybe they will grow strong enough to understand the dangers and selfishness involved in getting behind the wheel under the influence.

Thank you Coach4casue for giving back and helping people. May your gracious acts continue to spread.

  2. Hello! I saw your comment on a post about customizing Adelle and I was just wondering if you were able to get rid of the pink dots at the top for free because it seems like I have to pay to add a customised background. I’d really appreciate your help and all the best with your project! It seems really inspiring x

    • Hi,

Thank you for visiting my blog! I did get rid of the polka dots.

To change your background, go to your dashboard, highland “Appearance”, then click on background. Click on “Select Image” and add your background.

You can find free background images by doing a Google search for “Free backgrounds for blogs”.

I hope this helps, have a great day!

      Annette –
